Ive been a service customer here for several years, now with a new Kalkhoff bike. I took it in to have gears adjusted, mentioned to the friendly mechanic the rubbing mudguard as well, which we had discussed before. He didnt have the official parts but offered to fix it for me provisionally. On picking it up, the gears were fixed but not the mudguard, which his boss begrudgingly fixed for me in 5 min because this hadnt been added to the bill, as I found out later.As I rode off, I noticed a new, very loud squeak that hadnt been there before, but put this down to the chain needing oiling, also was in a rush to get to work so didnt take the bike back to have it checked straight away. When this persisted despite oiling, I realised this was probably something to do with the way the chainguard had been put back on, or in any case it only appeared straight after the repair, so took it back to the shop next time I got the chance, which was a week later. The boss was clearly not happy (and a bit out of his depth in the face of the unusual Dutch style chainguard) about having to fiddle with the bike again, so accused me of trying to get something fixed for free again. This was apparently in relation to the fact that he had to sort the mudguard last time, which the mechanic apparently had claimed he never promised to sort out for me. Things can be forgotten some times by anyone. But to accuse the customer of lying, and blaming them for the companys shortcomings and bad service just wasnt on I dont feel like going back there, also as they dont seem fit to handle the modern continental dynamo bikes. Shame, as they were my closest and in the past reliable shop as well - I just don't trust them any more.
Emailed about a procedure on an older bike that doesn't involve any of the latest carbon-fibre shenanigans and proprietary fittings, no response. Enjoy your 1-star review. Probably didn't understand what a cup and cone was. By millennials, for millennials.

Best bike shop I've ever been to, and I've been to a fair few. The passionate staff were exceedingly skilled, and were the only bike shop to notice and fix some setup problems with by bike.They also gave us some fantastic route advice for an upcoming cycle tour around the North West of Scotland, which turned out to be the best holiday of our lives, thanks in great part to Velocity44's friendly and knowledgable staff.Highly recommend them, and worth the trip from anywhere in Scotland.
