they dont give you ur deposit back in full, they will find small things to charge you for it. i will never use this agent ever again
Started off with county rentals who were great to work with and helped us a lot as we began renting a flat. 6 months down the line they were bought over by Martin and co just as we were leaving the flat and we have had nothing but problems. We left a few things lying such as air fresheners, a lighter and hair bobbles. Things that we just missed whilst moving out. Now we are getting charged 105 for forgetting to pick these things up (which would take less than 5 mins). I have read a lot of reviews and people are saying the same.Martin and co just want the money and have been rude over email. Definitely think everyone dealing with these horrible people to do it over email to have proof as they will worm their way out of any situation such as taking 105 for a silly mistake of leaving a few things lying around.
Most of the reviews here coming from the landlords and staff of the company. They give five stars to themselves! They will do everything to keep with your deposit, so you have to take many pictures before move-in. If you leave or forget to pick something up at the apartment during the check-out, they will evaluate if it is of interest to them. If yes, they do not charge a fee and will keep with them, if not, they will charge a fee to throw away. You have to make all communication by e-mail to register everything. You can't trust them. It is like a partnership between landlords and rent-agency to extract money from the tenants. They don't fix all the problems regarding insulation, so I had to buy an expensive heater to survive in the winter. They will charge a fee to clean the apartment even if you did that.
I have used Martin & Co for many years and have found them to be very efficient letting agency. They are very approachable and reply to emails promptly and always obtain my agreement before undertaking repairs, which are then quickly sorted. No problems at all. Our flat was never empty.
I have been renting out a property in the Stirling area through Martin & Co for about 10 years. Their service has always been excellent. They carry out regular checks, they carry out all routine tasks like PAT testing, gas safety cert, tenancy renewal, and have a good and generally value for money network of tradesmen for repair and maintenance issues. Communication has always been excellent. I live abroad, but renting out a property in Scotland through Martin & Co really has been trouble free. I would highly recommend them.
